Our Ingredients...

They tell a story about the land they come from, our products and the people who make them.

We take our ingredients seriously and that’s why we search for the best quality in the world.

How We Select Our Ingredients

At Adisa May, we use natural and naturally-derived ingredients with a preference for ingredients that are biomimetic and biocompatible with the skin. We closely examine every ingredient we use to determine if it’s appropriate for our products.

This examination includes: colour, chemical composition, clinical studies, effectiveness, geographical location, ingredient freshness, manufacturing process, nutritional profile, scent, sensory experience, vibrational energy, research literature, clinical studies and cultural, spiritual and historical significance.

Essential Oils

Essential oils are some of the most potent and healing ingredients available to a natural skincare formulator. A natural formulator must be sure that the essential oils are carefully incorporated into the products because they can cause skin sensitization and allergic reactions when improperly diluted.

This is why we microdose a small range of essential oils under 0.25%. Microdosing dramatically increases the likelihood that the skin can benefit from and tolerate daily use of the product without sensitization. When it comes to essential oils, we believe less is truly more.

What Are Biomimetic and Biocompatible Ingredients?

Biomimetic ingredients closely mimic the function and structure of components found within our own skin like ceramides, cholesterol, free fatty acids and squalene.

Biocompatible ingredients work in harmony with your skin's natural biology without causing adverse immune responses such as inflammation or allergic reactions. Natural ingredients like oat oil are an example of a biocompatible ingredient that is high in ceramides and is known to cause no dermal irritation or sensitivity.

Biomimetic and biocompatible ingredients means that the ingredient is in a form the skin can recognize and/or utilize. This supports the skin's biological processes like hydration, repair, and protection.

By working harmoniously with your skin's biological processes, biocomaptible and biomimetic ingredients reduce the likelihood of allergic and sensitized reactions.
